Flag football continues to grow as an attractive youth sport. The Aspen Institute concluded that children, football, and communities are likely to benefit if flagis the game’s standard before high school. The 2021 State of Play report found that flag football participation has surpassed tackle among kids ages 6 to 12, with most recent available data (2017) indicating girls make up nearly 18 percent of flag football participants.
